How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply want to grow and improve your well-being, therapy can help. Many of our clients come to us for support with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationships, or just wanting to feel more balanced.
What types of therapy do you offer?
We offer individual therapy, child & adolescent therapy, couples/relationship therapy, EMDR/trauma therapy, and ongoing mental health maintenance sessions.
Do you see children, teens, or families in addition to adults?
Yes! We support children, teens, adults, and couples. We also work with families to strengthen relationships and communication.
How long does therapy last?
The length of therapy looks different for everyone. Some people attend for a few months to work on specific concerns, while others choose ongoing sessions for continued growth and support.
Appointments & Scheduling
How do I schedule my first appointment?
You can call us, email us, or request an appointment through our website. Our intake team will guide you through the process and match you with a therapist who best fits your needs.
What should I expect at the first session?
Your first session is an intake appointment, where we’ll talk about your goals, history, and what brings you to therapy. It’s also a chance for you to get to know your therapist and see if it feels like the right fit.
Do you offer in-person and virtual therapy sessions?
Yes! We offer both in-person sessions at our Metro Detroit office and secure telehealth sessions across Michigan for your convenience.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be subject to a fee.
How often will I need to come to therapy?
Most clients start with weekly sessions, and as progress is made, some transition to biweekly or monthly check-ins. Your therapist will work with you to find what feels best.
Insurance & Payment
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept many major insurance plans.
What insurance plans are you in-network with?
We’re in-network with select providers, and coverage may vary by therapist. Please contact us, and we’ll be happy to verify your benefits for you.
What if my therapist isn’t in-network with my insurance?
If we’re out-of-network with your plan, we can provide you with a “superbill” to submit for potential reimbursement. We also offer self-pay options.
Do you offer self-pay options or sliding scale fees?
Yes, we offer private pay options. A limited number of sliding scale spots may be available—please ask us if that’s something you need.
Specialized Services
What is EMDR therapy and how does it work?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people process trauma and distressing experiences. It uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, tapping, or sounds) to reduce the emotional intensity of difficult memories.
Do you offer couples counseling?
Yes, we provide couples therapy to help partners strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and deepen connection.
How does child/adolescent therapy look different from adult therapy?
With children and teens, therapy often incorporates play, art, and creative activities to help them express themselves. We also involve parents when helpful to support family growth and understanding.
Can I switch therapists if I don’t feel like it’s the right fit?
Absolutely. A strong connection with your therapist is important, and we’ll support you in finding the best match if your first therapist isn’t the right fit.
Confidentiality & Privacy
Is what I share in therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is kept private and confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as safety concerns). Your therapist will review these limits with you at the first session.
Will my parents/partner/employer know what we talk about?
No. Unless you give written permission, we do not share your information. For children and teens, parents may receive general updates, but the details of sessions remain private.
Do you share information with schools or doctors?
Only with your consent. Sometimes, collaboration can be helpful, and if you’d like us to coordinate with another provider, we’ll ask for your signed release.

Can I have a consultation before starting therapy?
Yes, many of our therapists offer free 10-15 minute phone consultations to help you decide if it feels right.
What should I bring to my first session?
Just yourself and an open mind. If you’re using insurance, bring your ID and insurance card. For children, parents may need to bring completed intake forms.
How do I prepare my child for their first therapy session?
Keep it simple and reassuring. You can explain that therapy is a safe space to talk, play, and get support for big feelings. We’ll guide both you and your child through the process.
